Tom Graf

Grafitti is what you get when you combine melodic, well-written songs, creative arrangements, and great musicians!  You’ve heard these guys before on many recordings, and this collection of music will keep you listening song after song.

Grafitti is an instrumental project featuring Tom Graf’s compositions arranged and played by some of the finest Bay Area musicians - David K. Mathews - piano, Paul van Wageningen - drums, Marc van Wageningen - bass, John Wiitala - bass, Mike Olmos - trumpet, Joe Cohen - saxophone, Michael Spiro - percussion, Ray Obiedo - guitar, and Derek Rolando – percussion, with arrangements by David K. Mathews and production by Ray Obiedo.

Tom Graf’s writing has taken him from radio commercials through pop music to jazz.  The common theme throughout his music is the presence of a strong melodic line.  His songs have been sung by such artists as Angela Bofill and Mary Clayton (Dirty Dancing hit “Yes”) and played by Marc Russo and Ray Obiedo.

The music takes you on a journey from Miles Davis and Horace Silver through Pancho Sanchez, Ruben Blades, and Herbie Hancock.
